2021: How to stop a Reel on Instagram

Have you ever tried to pause an Instagram video and realised you were doing it wrong (by only turning on and off the volume)?
Since reels were added to photo-sharing platforms, people have had trouble figuring out how to stop a reel while watching it on their phone or PC.
Instagram added the loops feature in August 2020 to cut down on the number of posts and make it easier for popular videos to spread on the site. After TikTok passed Instagram and many other apps as the most downloaded and used video-sharing tool, this reel feature was made. Because of this, more people use the Internet.
Now, I’ve had trouble stopping reels on the platform too, but I didn’t think it was a big deal until someone messaged me and asked how to pause an Instagram reel. Then I realised that there must be more people having trouble with the tool than I thought.
This is how the story you are about to read was made. If you are having the same problem. If you keep reading, you’ll find out how to pause an Instagram reel on both your phone and computer.
HOW TO PUT AN INSTAGRAM REEL ON HOLD ON YOUR PHONE
Before, stopping a video (not a clip) on Instagram was as easy as tapping on the video or the pause sign, which was always at the bottom of all videos.
But since the reels were added, you have to tap and hold on the video to stop it. When you take your fingers off the screen, the video will start playing again. Yes, it’s that simple. To stop the movie, tap and hold on the screen. Press the release button to keep the movie going.
Note: Instagram took away the native repeat (fast forward/backward) feature from the loops because they thought 15 seconds was too short to have a winding feature. On Instagram, however, you can do it with live videos or longer movies by tapping and holding, then moving backwards or forwards.
There is also a way I figured out on my own to pause an Instagram movie on a phone. Tap the three dots in the lower right part of the movie to do that.
Even though stopping the video isn’t its main purpose—you can also report, edit, and remove the reel from your feed—you can use it to pause the video and keep the screen living for as long as you want. When you tap on the screen again, your video will start playing again.
HOW TO STOP AN INSTAGRAM REEL ON A COMPUTER
Surprisingly, it’s easier than you might think to pause an Instagram reel on a PC. It works like a movie on a phone. When you tap a reel on a phone, it mutes or unmutes, but when you tap it on a laptop, it stops. Move your mouse over the movie and click it. All done! Your movie has been put on hold. At the bottom right, there is a speaker symbol and a button to stop and unmute the sound.
